Location 

Longevity Cegonha is located around 25 miles from Faro Airport, just inland from the Algarve coast. The property can be reached by private transfer or taxi and takes around 30-35 minutes.

Lowdown

Cegonha is located by a nature reserve in a quiet part of the Algarve near wildlife and various golf courses. It benefits from year-round sunshine, peaking from March-October and sits in a relaxing area ideal for those looking at getting away and detoxing. Activities are plentiful, you can go walking, biking or swimming followed by your treatments and some quiet time, with most occasions only tweeting birds being heard over the gentle breeze. Most people visit to detox, get fit, lose weight and relax.

Look and feel of the accommodation

Think Spanish village, bright colours, large balconies and cobbled steps and you’re practically there. Longevity is a boutique hotel that offers a warm welcome for those not wanting anything too busy or hectic. The property has one large swimming pool, a small Jacuzzi and beautiful spa that feels personal to you due to its small number of inhabitants.   

The rooms are large and homely. Long curtains and comfortable beds with natural light allowed to creep in the early morning for a smooth awakening.

Facilities 

For a boutique property, you’ll never get bored. It has a large swimming pool, Jacuzzi, gym, steam room, sauna and tennis courts. For Spa lovers, their treatment rooms come with a 5* label and even a floatation room for the ultimate relaxation.

Fancy one of their classes? Yoga, bike rides and meditation can be found to expand on their many facilities. Bike rides to a local bird sanctuary in perfect sunshine adds a little variation.

Food

The food at Cegonha is tailored to each individual. If you’re on a detox plan or yoga plan this will be discussed on your initial consultation. From fresh fruit, honey, jam to a selection of meats, fresh bread and fresh juices, you will love their variation and focus on what's best for you.

I loved

My experience at Longevity Cegonha went above and beyond what I was expecting. The incredible two bedroom suite was more than large enough for our stay, the staff members did everything they could for us and Sonia especially for making sure every part of our stay was well looked after. All of their facilities were tried and tested, we loved the steam room, the salt room and Cegonha’s beautiful setting. They also offer free shuttles to and from Vilamoura which means you can explore the local area too.

I didn’t rate 

They have a childrens playground by the gym and tennis courts. This area could be put to better use for outdoor activities and Sonia has advised it is going to be removed later down the line. I also didn’t like having to ask for the steam room to be turned on in the morning. This should be available during the opening hours but possibly this is done as it’s a small facility and not everyone uses it!

Best for

Adults looking to relax, detox and get away from a busy environment. Solo travellers and couples are the ideal clients and ones that want to interact with each other as meal times gets quite cozy!

Not for 

This is not for the beach bunnies, who seek out a wellness option on a beach, as it is about 10 mins away by shuttle.

Visit the Sauna around 10 am, there seemed to be only us in their so we had it to ourselves each morning!
