Forte Village Resort Review: A Luxury Wellness Escape In Sardinia
07/07/2026, Angelica Cerruti & Klaudia OrrForte Village Resort is a world-renowned luxury and wellness destination located on the pristine south coast of Sardinia, Italy. Just 45 minutes from Cagliari Airport, this expansive sub-tropical resort features eight premium hotels, elite sports academies, and Michelin-star dining. It is most famous for its Acquaforte Thalasso & Spa, making it the ultimate Mediterranean getaway for families, active holidaymakers, and dedicated wellness seekers alike.
Key Takeaways:
- Prime Location: Just 45 minutes from Cagliari Airport with a private transfer included, set on a stunning white sand beach in Sardinia.
- World-Class Spa: Home to the renowned Acquaforte Thalasso & Spa featuring a unique six-pool thalassotherapy circuit.
- Elite Sports: Offers a High Performance Centre and prestigious sports academies coached by former Olympians and professionals.
- Versatile Luxury: Features 8 distinct hotels catering to families, couples, and dedicated wellness seekers alike.
Klaudia and Angelica jetted off recently to Sardinia, one of the most beautiful regions in Italy, to spend time exploring Forte Village Resort – a destination famous for its luxury hotels, sporting academies and, perhaps less well known, one of the world's finest thalassotherapy spas. Here's what they learnt...
The Location
Simple. Just 45 minutes from Cagliari Airport - Forte Village couldn’t be easier to reach, making it an ideal choice for both a long weekend escape from the UK or a longer, more indulgent holiday in the sunshine. An added bonus is that every booking has their own private transfer to and from the airport – a nice treat which means no hanging around waiting for airport stragglers.
The resort, surrounded by beautifully-landscaped tropical gardens, is set on Sardinia’s stunning south coast and has its own stretch of soft white sand, sitting alongside crystal-clear Mediterranean waters.
The moment we arrived it felt like we had stepped into a sub-tropical paradise. Palm trees, colourful flowers, fragrant pine trees and the sound of the sea meant that we were instantly encouraged to just slow down. Although Forte Village is undoubtedly a large resort, (with eight hotels and countless facilities), it somehow manages to feel peaceful, secluded and uncrowded. There are plenty of quiet corners where you can relax with a book, enjoy the greenery or simply take in the breath taking beach.
We were both really taken with how beautifully immersed the entire resort is in nature. The hotels, restaurants, pools, spa and pathways are all set within gorgeous gardens, which makes every area feel private, calm and incredibly picturesque.
There is also a real sense of ease throughout the resort. Forte Village feels private, calm and beautifully looked after, making it easy to see why so many guests, and families, return year after year. Children can move happily between the beach, kids’ clubs and restaurants, while adults and spa-goers can enjoy a reassuring sense of comfort and relaxation.
The Accommodation
One of its greatest strengths. Forte Village offers an impressive variety of accommodation, whether you prefer a relaxed bungalow surrounded by gardens, a family-friendly room close to the main facilities, or a luxurious sea-view suite, there genuinely is something to suit every preference and style of holiday. Each of the hotels has its own personality and unique features, making the resort feel wonderfully varied - some areas are ideal for families, some are perfect for couples seeking privacy, while others offer a more premium and wellness-focused experience. We were both particularly impressed with Villa del Parco, incredibly peaceful and exclusive, with great access to the spa facilities; a beautiful option for anyone looking for a quieter and more restorative stay.
For our stay, we checked into the five-star Hotel Castello, and we could not have picked a better base. We were just a stone’s throw from the beach and the sea, but had the added luxury of a heated pool. After a day spent enjoying the spa and resort facilities, it was the perfect place to unwind in a quieter setting. The room was spacious, elegantly decorated and offered everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including lush garden views.
The Wellness Concept
We had come to Forte Village primarily to experience their Acquaforte Thalasso & Spa, which is centred around the therapeutic benefits of seawater. The centrepiece is undoubtedly the six-pool thalassotherapy circuit, where each pool has a different temperature and salt concentration, allowing your body to gradually absorb the minerals while improving circulation, relaxing muscles and reducing stress. Needless to say, we had no trouble enjoying this calming experience, moving quietly and effortlessly from pool to pool.
For those looking to take their fitness to the next level, Forte Village mirrors its sister property Palazzo Fiuggi by being home to a High Performance Centre, where a team of specialists — including physiotherapists, sports doctors, osteopaths, nutritionists and performance coaches — work with both professional athletes and everyday guests. It was wonderful to spend time with the team and to see just how they assess your current fitness levels and improve your performance.
We met with one of the wellness experts, the Ayurveda Master Raj Eka Thapaliya, who specialises in traditional Ayurvedic therapies, including Shirodhara as well as meditation and sound healing. His personalised approach combines ancient healing practices with modern wellness principles, and offers guests the opportunity to restore balance, reduce stress and enhance their overall wellbeing. Another highlight of our stay was the opportunity to experience treatments with Dr Joanna Hakimova, one of Europe’s most renowned facialists, and the creator of the Natural BioLifting method. Her expertise in non-invasive facial rejuvenation and holistic wellbeing attracts guests from far and wide who are seeking treatments that combine scientific knowledge with natural techniques.
The Facilities and Activities
Forte Village has long been recognised as one of Europe’s, if not the World’s leading sports resorts, and its facilities continue to justify that reputation. The range and quality of the facilities are exceptional, catering to everyone from absolute beginners, (ourselves), right through to professional athletes. Everyone has access to world-class tennis courts, football pitches, padel courts, cycling, water sports and a fully equipped fitness centre, with many of the activities led by experienced, and well-known coaches, (think former Olympians, ex-rugby stars, professional cyclists).
The tennis club deserves a special mention. Francesco and the rest of the tennis coaches bring so much energy, professionalism and enthusiasm to the whole experience, making it enjoyable whether you are a beginner, a regular player or someone just looking to improve technique during their holiday. Truly top notch.
The resort is also known for hosting prestigious sports academies throughout the season, giving both children and adults the opportunity to train with internationally-recognised professionals. So whether you are looking to simply stay active during your holiday or improve your skills in a particular sport, Forte Village offers unrivalled sporting excellence in a truly stunning setting.
The Food
A real highlight of our stay. The half-board arrangement gives guests access to a choice of restaurants right across the resort, making dining varied and, perhaps as importantly, convenient throughout their stay. The variety is excellent, and with so many different restaurants and cuisines to enjoy every evening feels completely different.
Breakfast felt particularly special – there was such a wide choice of fresh, healthy and high-quality options, including a selection of organic-certified products. The breakfast offering really adds to the sense of luxury, especially for guests who enjoy starting the day with something both nourishing and healthy.
During our stay, we tried to try a bit of everything. We enjoyed delicious pizzas, super-fresh locally-caught seafood, perfectly grilled meats and exquisite yet simple pasta. Those wishing to somehow elevate their dining experience, can also enjoy a further selection of restaurants available at additional cost. These include some truly exceptional culinary experiences, with creative menus from exciting emerging chefs as well as the renowned Heinz Beck, (whom we know well from his wellness cuisine at Palazzo Fiuggi). The menus are inventive, beautifully presented and full of flavour, making the food offering a major part of the overall Forte Village experience.
Insider Tips
If you are booking a wellness programme, we highly recommend staying at Villa del Parco, located right next to the spa. It is peaceful, elegant and perfectly positioned for anyone planning to make the most of the wellness facilities.
There is no doubting that the peak summer months of July and August are when the resort is at its busiest and most expensive, (& hottest!). Instead we would recommend travelling in April, May, September or October, when the weather is still excellent, but the atmosphere is more relaxed and the costs lower.
If you enjoy sport and wellness, make sure you book coaching sessions and spa treatments in advance, especially during busier periods. Selecting a spa programme is also a fantastic way to make sure that you enjoy all of the best treatments on offer.
Also don’t worry if one of you wants wellness and the other doesn’t. Forte Village is so varied that spa aficionados and fitness fanatics can enjoy their trip just as much as those whose idea of exercise is turning the next page of their book.
