5 Fitness tips to keep you motivated in the winter months

Struggling to maintain the exercise routine you managed to perfect in the summer months? Well, you are not on your own. Facing a run when the rain is teaming down or heading to the gym on a biting dark morning takes a lot more motivation than it might do on a bright summer morning. Here are five simple tips that will help you along the way.

1.  Buddy up

Diarising your exercise and agreeing to work out with a friend is a great way to keep your motivation up. Not only is it more sociable and enjoyable, it might also make you work out harder and you are less likely to cancel on your friend.

2. Try HIIT workout blasts to reduce your workout time

Reduce the time that you are in the gym by following a high-intensity interval training routine. Its brilliant for burning fat and building muscle and crucially need not last longer than 20 minutes.

3. Book a class

There are so many fun and interesting classes at your disposal right now, there is really something for everyone- a bit of pole dancing, maybe a hula class, or some army workouts in your local park. And with a charge payable for your cancelled class, you are much more likely to pitch up.

4. Treat yourself to some new gym clothes or trainers

If you enjoy outside training like running, buy yourself some warm gear that will keep you motivated on those cold nights – A warm hat and gloves really does make all the difference. And if you are training indoors, you will want to show off your spanking new trainers or kit.

5. Workout in the comfort of your own home

With the zillions of YouTube fitness Classes and tutorials at your fingertips, there has never been a better time to exercise in the comfort of your own home. Clear an area that’s big enough to do some squats, sit-ups and body-weighed exercises and pump up the volume.
