Indonesia, Southeast AsiaThere are few places on earth that match the dramatic setting of Como Shambhala – a private sanctuary in the middle of a jungle, perched high above the rainforest looking down to the river below, and just a short journey from Bali’s spiritual centre of Ubud. Nature reigns supreme here; the energy is palpable and it immediately feels therapeutic.
The Wellness Retreat is equally profound, with top-notch facilities as standard, ahead-of-the curve treatments and programmes, and the very best practitioners on site. There are Ayurveda doctors to sort your doshas, nutritionists to help your sluggish gut, and some brilliant TCM practitioners to calm your adrenalins. There are plenty of outdoor activities to be enjoyed too, which include trekking, cycling, rafting, canyoning and cultural tours. This is a place where you can do as much or as little as you like, where you can enjoy all the delights of a relaxing holiday while simultaneously improving your health.

Please note: The property will be closed between 21 January 2025 - 21 February 2025. Following this closure, their wellness centre, Ojas, will remain closed for further interior improvements works until end of June 2025. During this period, certain facilities such as the indoor treatment rooms, outdoor hydrotherapy pool, swimming pool, sauna, steam rooms, yoga pavilion, as well as Ayurvedic and facial treatments will be temporarily unavailable.

Rooms and Suites
All of the individual rooms and suites at Como Shambhala's Ubud spa resort sit within one of their freestanding, individually designed Residences. Each suite has one bedroom, except the COMO Suite at Umabona, which features two. Every room is different, but has access to its Residence's pools, lounge areas and shaded pavilions.

Residences
Comprising four or five suites, airy living areas and a large swimming pool, the five Bali Residences reflect the natural environment and indigenous styles of building. When taken in their entirety, they make the perfect accommodation for groups of families or friends travelling together. For those travelling solo or as a couple, individual suites within the Residences can also be taken, with guests sharing the pool, expansive lounging and dining areas even as you maintain a sense of complete privacy.

A long list of massages encompassing everything from Thai and Balinese to pre-natal and hot stone are offered alongside hydrotherapy sessions, facials, wraps and scrubs. Meditation and Pranayama (breathing) sessions are also offered.

On arrival, the resident nutritionist will assess your needs and diet before devising a bespoke eating plan with the chef, and if necessary the resident Ayurvedic doctor. All menus aim to maximise your personal health and performance by addressing blood-sugar imbalances and increasing energy levels. Meals are delicious and nutritious using fresh produce from the surrounding area.
